After my B.Sc in Biochemistry at Edinburgh, including three years in Chemistry, I did a Ph.D at Guy’s Hospital Medical School in London. I then returned to Reykjavik in Iceland in 1971. I was first at the Institute of Experimental Pathology, followed by a teaching job at the Medical Faculty, and later in Biochemistry in the Faculty of Science.
