1969  Ph.D Biological Chemistry, Department of Brewing & Biochemistry, Heriot- Watt University,                          Edinburgh. Thesis “The Structure and Metabolism of Some Polysaccharides”.

                    (Beta-glucan from Brewer’s Yeast). Still interested in by-products of Brewer's Yeast!

1969 – 89   Kodak Limited, London Area – mostly Motion Picture positions.

                    Research Chemist, Film Processing Technology Group Including trouble-shooting in 

                    motion-picture film labs for Motion Picture & Television Sales Dept.

                    Technical trainer in photofinishing & motion picture groups, Hemel Hempstead.

                    Technical specialist in Export Trade Sales Dept, travelling to Nigeria, Iceland,                                   Malta and Eastern Europe – Czechoslovakia & East Germany.

                    Technical specialist in Eastman Kodak European Region, travelling extensively in                            Western Europe and USA.

1989-2005 Eastman Kodak Company, USA

                    Director of Product Planning, Motion Picture Film, Rochester, NY.

                    Chairman, Rochester Section, SMPTE – Society of Motion Picture & Television Engineers.

                    Director of Engineering, Entertainment Imaging, Hollywood, CA

                    Chairman, Hollywood Section, SMPTE.

                    Co-recipient of Academy Award of Commendation (lower grade of Technical Oscar) for the                          Cyan Dye Sound Tracks Project. See photo below - 3rd from left.

2005-09      Retired (at 60) back to Rochester NY.

                    Part-time lecturer at the L. Jeffrey Selznick School of Film Preservation at the                                  George Eastman House International Museum of Photography & Film.

                    Chairman, Rochester Section, SMPTE

2009-          Moved back to Edinburgh to be closer to grandchildren in London area.

                    Hobbies: Amateur Radio, callsign GM3PSP since 1962; K6PSP in USA.

                    Photography (all digital now!), especially recording activities of clubs etc that I belong to:

                    Lothians Radio Society (webmaster)

                    Watsonian Swimming Club (webmaster)

                    Church walking group.

                    Dog-walking hyper-active springer spaniel Clyde.
