Edinburgh Radio Shops & Scrapyards

Back in the 1950s and 60s we constructed a lot of our own (valve) radio equipment, either with new components bought from one of the Edinburgh shops that catered for us - Brown's Wireless on George IV Bridge, Miller's Wireless on Leith Walk or Fryer Tuck's (GM3BBW) shop in Eyre Place - or second-hand from one of the scrapyards in Leith - 'Wingy' Robertson's, Geordie Power's or Johansson's - or as far away as Jimmy Marchbank's in Hawick. As with the Wireless Colleges article below, there is a longer article on this on the Lothians Radio Society website.
